How to Pin Down Odd Socks

OMG, I’ve actually MADE SOMETHING FROM PINTEREST!!!
Well, sort of. If you use Pinterest, perhaps you’ve seen some ideas like these floating around:
Now, I’ve pinned a few home organization ideas, but like most all of my pins so far, I’ve never actually made any of them.
But this one looks pretty easy, right? So the other day I was standing in the laundry room, trying to think of something we had lying around that could be repurposed as a magnet board.
Head-smack:
But not even those Lee Valley rare earth magnets are going to keep socks from sliding down during the spin cycle. So here is a little tweak:
The red rubber is the neck from a balloon. Under that, there’s a rare-earth magnet, with a dab of crazy glue holding the magnet to the peg, and another dab holding the balloon in place. Easy-peasy!
Do you pin?
Do you make what you pin?

brilliant! Socks drive me nutters.
Ditto! And believe it or not, it’s working. There are less socks there than when I started. Next up is a way of marking anything that’s there longer than 2 weeks, because then I’m just going to pitch the damn things

I don’t pin. I’ve never even been on Pinterest and I don’t know why. I’m the same with klout. I don’t get it and am fighting the urge to even click onto the site and see what it means!
Old school perhaps!?
PS. I do have sock-issues though!
I’m a sporadic pinner. I’ve found it useful when looking for ideas for a kitchen reno, for example, but other than that, it tends to be a time sucker. All kinds of time spent pinning neat things that I then never have time for!
This! Is! BRILLIANT!!! I’m feeling very ambivalent about Pinterest these days (see my recent blog post) but if I were pinning, I’d be pinning this!
Thanks! And thanks also for that post – made me think.
I don’t pin. But this has me slack-jawed with admiration. Dude – you’re my hero.
Why thank you! I’m flattered. Discombobulated even. For my next trick, I’ll see if I can find you something for that jaw
Genius! I just put lost socks in our drawers hoping they’ll find their mate – they never do :p
Yes, I used to do that too. Turns out DH was keeping them in the basement. That was at least part of the problem.
Awesome Sasha! I love it.
Thanks Mel!
